PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
January 5, 2012
Dear Friends,
Afghanistan’s working street children need us at this time of year more than ever. Winters are harsh in Kabul. When freezing temperatures persist more than 200 children a day die in the displaced persons camp to which we provide assistance. The number would be even greater if we did not supply so many with at least one nutritious meal each day. Please help us get those in Kabul, Herat, Parwan and Gardez through this terrible time that follows one of the worst droughts and disappointing growing seasons in a decade by donating to the Aschiana Foundation.
Thanks to your generosity in the past the new Children’s Center in Kabul is now serving more than 700 children a day. This facility also allows Aschiana to accept large donations of food, when they become available, because it is able to store them securely and insure the food is distributed to those for whom it is intended. We are particularly excited that in 2012 Aschiana will open a new medical clinic for the children and their families in this building.
In the meantime we must help those who need Aschiana the most get through this winter. As you enjoy all the blessings of this past holiday season, we hope you will find it in your hearts to support our programs that will provide warmth and relief from the cold for part of the days this winter.
With hope for peace,
— Tricia
